Legal holidays (2023)

The legal holidays (cf. art. 102 par. 1 of the Introductory Act to the Customs Treaty with Switzerland, LR 631.112.1) are: New Year's Day (January 1), Epiphany (January 6), Easter Monday (April 10), Ascension of Christ (May 18), Whit Monday (May 29), Corpus Christi (June 8), Assumption of Mary (August 15), All Saints' Day (November 1), Immaculate Conception (December 8), Christmas Day (December 25), St Stephen's Day (December 26).

Legal holidays which are equivalent to any Sunday (cf. art. 18 par. 2 of the Labour Act, LR 822.10) are: New Year's Day (January 1), Epiphany (January 6), Easter Monday (April 10), Labour Day (May 1), Ascension of Christ (May 18), Whit Monday (May 29), Corpus Christi (June 8), Assumption of Mary (August 15), Nativity of Mary (September 8), All Saints' Day (November 1), Immaculate Conception (December 8), Christmas Day (December 25), St Stephen's Day (December 26).

August 15 is the national holiday (cf. art. 1 of the Law on the National Holiday, LR 145.0).

Further legal holidays are: Easter (April 9), Whitsun (May 28).

Bank holidays (2023)

Bank holidays are: St Berchtold's Day (January 2), Candlemas (February 2), Pancake Tuesday (February 21), St Joseph's Day (March 19), Good Friday (April 7), Christmas Eve (December 24), New Year's Eve (December 31).
